Toughened Glass is a Grade A safety glass that has been heat-treated to significantly increase its strength and resistance to impact and thermal stress.
Processed to meet the requirements of AS/NZS 2208, it is commonly specified where safety glazing is required. When broken, Toughened Glass shatters into small, blunt-edged fragments, reducing the risk of serious injury compared to standard annealed glass.

AS/NZS 2208 – Grade A Safety Glass
Once toughened, glass cannot be further processed or modified. All cutting, drilling, shaping, edgework and other fabrication must be completed prior to the toughening process.
Roller wave and slight optical distortion are inherent characteristics of the toughening process.
Heat soaking is recommended where reducing the risk of spontaneous breakage is a project requirement.
For applications requiring post-breakage integrity, laminated safety glass may be a more suitable option.
