Clear Toughened Glass

Clear Toughened Glass is a Grade A safety glass produced by heat-treating clear float glass, significantly increasing its strength and resistance to impact and thermal stress.

Clear Toughened Glass

Clear Toughened Glass is produced by heating annealed glass uniformly to temperatures exceeding 600°C before rapidly cooling it. This process significantly increases the strength of the glass and its resistance to impact and thermal stress.

Manufactured to AS/NZS 2208, Clear Toughened Glass is commonly specified for windows and doors, balustrades, pool fencing, shower screens, splashbacks, table tops and shelves.

It can be heat soaked where reducing the risk of spontaneous breakage is a project requirement, and can be incorporated into custom laminated glass make-ups.

Product Considerations

  • Once toughened, glass cannot be further processed or modified. All cutting, drilling, shaping, edgework and other fabrication must be completed prior to the toughening process.
