ToughGuard™ is a custom laminated safety glass manufactured by permanently bonding two or more panes of glass using a high-quality PVB (Polyvinyl Butyral) interlayer.
Designed to enhance safety, security and durability, ToughGuard™ can be manufactured using a wide range of glass types and interlayer thicknesses to meet the specific requirements of your project.
Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB) is the most widely used interlayer in laminated safety glass. Permanently bonded between two or more panes of glass, the PVB interlayer helps retain broken glass if breakage occurs while improving safety, security and durability.
Available in a range of thicknesses, PVB interlayers provide excellent design flexibility and can be incorporated into custom laminated glass constructions to meet a variety of project requirements.

For toughened ToughGuard™ constructions, a minimum 1.52mm PVB interlayer is required.

Yes. ToughGuard™ can be manufactured using a wide range of Tough Glass products, including Clear, Ultra Clear, Tinted, Decorative and KeneticPlus Low-E Glass, allowing the glass construction to be tailored to the project's aesthetic and performance requirements.
Yes. ToughGuard™ can be incorporated into a ToughEco™ Insulated Glass Unit (IGU) to combine the safety benefits of laminated glass with improved thermal and acoustic performance.
Yes. ToughGuard™ is manufactured to order and can be supplied in custom sizes, shapes and glass constructions. Holes, notches, cut-outs, polished edges and other fabrication can all be completed prior to the lamination process.
ToughGuard™ is manufactured to suit individual project requirements and can be produced using a wide range of glass thicknesses, PVB interlayer combinations and glass types. ToughGuard™ uses a premium PVB interlayer and is suitable for the majority of architectural laminated glass applications. For projects requiring structural performance, exposed edge glazing or increased stiffness, ToughView™ uses the SentryGlas® ionoplast interlayer and may be the more appropriate solution.
